COX Architecture’s new Sydney Studio is an adaptive workplace that embodies the project’s three fundamental principles; conservation, collaboration and sustainability.

Set in an original 1912 State-heritage listed building, the framework came with charming features which COX Architecture left untouched as much as possible, celebrating and conserving the heart of its original design.

Lighting designers LCI were engaged to curate the lighting for the new studio which sits across multiple floors. Workstations were provided with uniformly functional and efficient illumination using a large selection of ERCO Optec and Jilly luminaires on track. The increasing trend for flexible workplaces and COX’s intentional planning to make their Studio a highly reconfigurable space meant track was a solid solution. Using wireless Casambi technology throughout created an efficient, professional lighting control system that could easily support the evolving needs of the Studio.

Providing generous wallwashing, ERCO Optecs were carefully positioned throughout the perimeter of much of the Studio to enhance the natural textures and earthy tones of the original brickwork. Vertical presentation boards that float throughout much of the workspace were also brought to life with the ERCO Optecs on track.

ERCO Hi-trac creates additional versatility as it cleverly houses LPE Visionline profile to provide consistent indirect distribution while brightening the original ceilings and creating indirect general lighting.

Luxient surface mounted luminaires by ELS teamed with custom ERCO IKU surface mounted wallwashers sit neatly within the heritage fishbone ceiling structures. Defining some of the meeting room spaces by grazing custom timber joinery and also providing general lighting.
