City Recital Hall in Sydney’s Angel Place has recently undergone a significant renewal led by architects Archer Office, marking the first major upgrade to the venue since it opened in 1999. The transformation brings a refreshed sense of arrival and movement throughout the foyers, bars, auditorium and backstage areas, giving the building greater flexibility to host a wider variety of events. The architectural upgrades celebrate the existing character of the hall while introducing new layers of comfort, connection and performance readiness.
The lighting design by JHA plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere and experience of the renewed spaces. It enhances both the architectural form and the technical needs of the venue, balancing visual warmth with precision.
