Jadecross is proud to have supported Aston Consulting in delivering a high-performing and sustainable lighting solution for Ausgrid’s new Newcastle headquarters. This state-of-the-art facility exemplifies modern workplace design and is currently being assessed for a 6-Star Green Star accreditation, reinforcing Ausgrid’s commitment to sustainability.

Working closely with Aston Consulting, we offered support on lighting solutions that aligned with the project’s acoustic and aesthetic requirements. A key element of the design was the integration of acoustic lighting to enhance both comfort and functionality. To achieve this, and alongside ELS, Aston developed the custom Fuse Tapered acoustic pendant luminaires for Studio P3, a design that expanded on the previously available round version. These pendants incorporate Fuji Ku acoustic tiles by Woven Image, which provide high-quality illumination and effective sound absorption to support privacy and comfort in meeting rooms and key work areas. The acoustic tiles are made from sustainable, recycled PET material, reinforcing the project’s commitment to sustainability by contributing to a circular economy, reducing plastic waste, and lowering carbon emissions.

Beyond acoustic lighting, a versatile selection of Flex luminaires by ELS — including recessed, pendant, and track-mounted fittings — was specified to meet the diverse needs of the space. This approach provided tailored distribution and output, ensuring optimal lighting conditions for different workplace functions.

Delivered by SHAPE, the project spans five floors and is designed to foster collaboration, featuring bespoke meeting rooms, flexible training areas, and a spacious town hall. With sustainability and innovation at its core, the new Newcastle office sets a benchmark for modern, environmentally conscious workplaces.
